SPEAKING MODULE 1 · THE SPEAKING ENGINE

Stop freezing. Stop giving short answers. Speak for two full minutes without panic.

You know more English than the examiner ever gets to hear. Module 1 fixes that. Twelve days of simple routines — a 2-sentence rule, a story spine, the 5W system, sensory extension — that build fluency, answer length, and confidence together. By Day 12, you can hold the full Part 2 long turn with structure, not panic.

12 days
~45 min per day
Focus: Part 1 + Part 2
Target: Band 5.5 → 6.5

If this sounds like you

The problem this module fixes:

"I know something about this topic. But the moment the examiner asks the question, my mind goes blank. I give a one-sentence answer and stop. In Part 2, I run out of things to say after 30 seconds. The real me — the one who can actually have a conversation in English — doesn't show up in the test room."

MODULE SIGNATURE · EVERY DAY

Five daily micro-drills. Not just on Day 1.

Most Speaking courses save pronunciation, grammar, and confidence work for Module 3 — by which point bad habits are locked in. The Speaking Engine threads all five through every single day, from Day 1. Pronunciation drilled daily. Grammar targeted daily. Confidence reset daily. This is how composure becomes automatic, not optional.

5-MIN DRILL Daily pronunciation focus — final consonants, stress, rhythm
PART 1 WARM-UP 3 quick Part 1 questions to wake up your fluency
GRAMMAR TARGET One specific accuracy goal — different each day
RECORDING TASK Hear your own voice. You can't fix what you don't notice
CONFIDENCE RESET A short habit that prevents freeze and panic on test day

Who this is for

Built for the anxious, introverted, or short-answer student.

This module is for students who can hold a conversation in English but freeze the moment the test starts. One-sentence answers. Blank pauses. Running out of things to say in Part 2. The freeze isn't a vocabulary problem — it's a performance problem layered on real skills that need building. The Speaking Engine builds both.

If you score around Band 5.5 in Speaking and want to reach Band 6.5, this is the module that gets you there. If you've never sat IELTS but you're worried about freezing, this is the right starting point. Higher-level students (Band 6.5+) should look at S2 (The Ideas Engine) for Part 3 work, or S3 (Precision and Performance) for the pressure layer.

Day structure

The same pattern on every day.

Each day has four pages. About 45 minutes total. The five daily micro-drills run through all four pages.

STAGE 1

LEARN

One clear problem. One strategy. One model answer. One micro-pronunciation target.

STAGE 2

PRACTICE

Controlled drills. Short recordings. Sentence-level and answer-level practice.

STAGE 3

APPLY

Timed IELTS-style speaking task. Recording required. No overthinking.

STAGE 4

REFLECT

Self-check. Mistake pattern. One small improvement goal for tomorrow.

The curriculum

What you'll cover, day by day.

Four three-day clusters. Each fixes one specific Speaking problem before moving to the next.

CLUSTER 1 · DAYS 1–3

Part 1 answer control

Stop short answers
DAY 1

The 2-sentence rule

Sentence 1 = direct answer. Sentence 2 = detail, reason, or feeling. The end of one-word answers.

DAY 2

Flexible openers

"Actually, I'd say..." "From my experience..." Starting frames that prevent blank pauses.

DAY 3

Extending without repeating

Add reason, example, or contrast. Stop recycling the same idea in different words.

CLUSTER 2 · DAYS 4–6

Part 2 story spine

Give the long turn a shape
DAY 4

SAR story spine

Situation → Action → Result. The structure that gives Part 2 a beginning, middle, and end.

DAY 5

Staying in the past

Tense locking for Part 2. Reduce tense drift during stories — the most common Band 6 slip.

DAY 6

Story emotion and meaning

Add feelings and reactions. Make stories sound human, not robotic recitations.

CLUSTER 3 · DAYS 7–9

Expansion system

Never run out of things to say
DAY 7

The 5W system

Who, What, Where, When, Why. Prevent freezing during the 1-minute preparation time.

DAY 8

Expanding with reasons and examples

Reason → example → feeling. Add content when ideas run out.

DAY 9

Comparing past and present

"Then vs now." Add depth to Part 2 stories using used to / now / compared with.

CLUSTER 4 · DAYS 10–12

Sustained long turn

Reach the full two minutes
DAY 10

Sensory extension

Sight, sound, smell, touch, taste. Sustain speech with vivid but natural detail.

DAY 11

Part 2 full practice

Combine SAR, 5Ws, emotion, comparison, and sensory detail. Two full Part 2 attempts.

DAY 12

Module 1 Speaking check

Diagnose fluency and story control. Part 1 mini-test, Part 2 long turn, structured self-reflection.

After 12 days

What you'll actually be able to do.

Specific, concrete things — not vague promises about "feeling more confident."

Stop one-word and one-sentence Part 1 answers by applying the 2-sentence rule automatically.
Open any Part 1 answer with a natural starting frame, even when you're not sure what to say.
Build a Part 2 story with clear shape using the SAR spine — Situation, Action, Result.
Stay in past tense throughout a Part 2 story without unconscious tense drift.
Use the 5W system during the 1-minute preparation time so you never panic into blank notes.
Add sensory detail, comparison, and emotion to extend Part 2 to the full two minutes.
Run a daily confidence-reset routine that prevents test-day freeze.
Take a Speaking Logic Profile into S2 — your personal map of what's working and what still needs work.

S1 is the foundation. The Speaking System builds on it.

S1 builds fluency and Part 1/Part 2 control. S2 adds Part 3 analytical thinking. S3 layers pressure-testing and pronunciation polish on top. Most students benefit from all three — and the bundle is cheaper than buying separately.
